As you know the latest piece to tablet tech to hit the mobile space is the Google Nexus 7 tablet, and as with all new tech gear the device will get compared to other devices that are either in the market or on their way. Obviously the Google Nexus 7 will do battle against the Amazon Kindle Fire, but today we have a little spec comparison between Google’s 7-inch slate, the Samsung Galaxy Note, and the upcoming Archos 97 Carbon, which we let our readers know about the other day.
So let’s kick things off with that spec comparison between the Nexus 7 and popular Samsung Galaxy Note, which of course is Sammy’s smartphone/tablet hybrid, and the Archos 97 Carbon courtesy of the guys over at Nvo News, and T3, and although the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Note don’t really compete against each other, they are both actually small tablets, with the Galaxy Note offering that extra calling feature.
Anyway, onto that spec comparison with the first noticeable thing being the size, the Samsung Galaxy Note has a 5.3-inch Super AMOLED HD display, whilst the Google Nexus 7 has a 7-inch backlit IPS HD display, and the Archos 97 Carbon packs a 9.7-inch IPS display.
Processor wise, the Google Nexus 7 packs a powerful NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad core 1.3GHz processor, whilst the Samsung Galaxy Note packs a 1.4GHz ARM Cortex-A9 dual core processor, and the Archos 97 Carbon features a 1GHz single core processor, and all three have 1GB RAM.
When it comes to internal storage the Google Nexus 7 tablet comes in two capacities, 8GB and 16GB, whilst the Archos 97 Carbon and the Samsung Galaxy Note has 16GB along with microSD expansion up to 32GB.
However, when it comes to the camera stakes, this is where the Samsung Galaxy Note grabs the crown, as the Note sports an 8 megapixel rear facing auto-focus camera along with a 2 megapixel front facing camera, whilst the Google Nexus 7 only sports a 1.2 megapixel front facing camera, and the Archos 97 Carbon has a VGA front facing snapper and a 2 megapixel rear facing camera.
Although when it comes down to operating system, the Google Nexus 7 comes out on top as the device is running the latest Android OS, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, whilst the Archos 97 Carbon runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich, and the Samsung Galaxy Note brings up the rear with initially coming with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, having said that, the Galaxy Note is slowly being updated to ICS.
Probably Jelly Bean, along with a price tag of $200 makes the Google Nexus 7 more desirable than the Archos 97 Carbon despite the Carbon having a bigger display, and well as for the Galaxy Note, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is expected to hit the mobile space in the not too distant future.
So taking these three devices into account, which would you prefer to own, the Samsung Galaxy Note, the Google Nexus 7 or the Archos 97 Carbon?
