If you are waiting on Microsoft to deliver their new Microsoft Surface tablet to the mobile space, it appears that you just might possibly have a bit of a wait on your hands, as word is there is a problem with producing the Microsoft Surface slate in large quantities, that could mean not many are available.
According to the guys over at Ubergizmo by way of DigiTimes, apparently there could be a bit of a shortage of Microsoft Surface tablets at launch due to low production yields.
Apparently this is down to the company working with a ‘second tier’ chassis supplier who apparently has some difficulty producing enough units to match what Microsoft expects. Word is the Microsoft Surface tablet VaporMg case, which is manufactured in magnesium isn’t that simple to produce.
This production problem news comes via the usual unnamed sources from the upstream supply chain,’ who also point out that before Microsoft launched the Microsoft Surface tablet, the company has inquired at several chassis makers about their availability capacity, as Microsoft expects to hit up to 5 million Surface tablets by the end of the year.
However, apparently Microsoft has not yet commented in this low production issue, so for now this should be treated as just rumour; however as the Windows 8 tablet is expected to arrive in October, it isn’t all that long to wait to find out if there will actually be enough of the Microsoft Surface tablet to go around.
