LG F180 specs to rival Samsung Galaxy S3
Today we have news for you of an upcoming LG phone, the LG F180, and although full specs and features are not yet known, from what we’ve seen so far this looks like it could rival the Samsung Galaxy S3 (S III). The F180 will be powered by a quad-core processor and to be honest the rest of the specs also jump off the page, making this one to sit up and take notice of.
A couple of days ago we spoke of a new LG Optimus smartphone that would be quad-core and could feature a 10-megapixel camera and we now think that could be the F180 although the specs of this are even better than expected. Bear in mind that F180 is currently the codename of this smartphone and we don’t know the title it will release under. There’s likely to be a huge amount of interest in this phone though so we’ll keep you informed with more as we hear it.
Rumored specs and features of the LG-F180, according to GSM Arena sourced from Android Authority, include a 1.5GHz quad-core Krait processor, Adreno 320 graphics, a 5-inch IPS HD display and 2GB of RAM. It’s already looking promising then but we can also tell you that the F180 will have a 13-megapixel rear camera, LTE support, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi a/b/g/n, NFC and also a plentiful 2100mAh battery and it’s all likely to run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Obviously we cannot confirm these specs at this time but if they are accurate then it’s a good job that the Galaxy S3 had a head start on sales.
One particularly relevant piece of information is that the Galaxy S3 has a quad-core Exynos processor in many regions although the US version has a Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz dual-core processor which enables the phone to be LTE-equipped. However it seems that the quad-core Krait processor mentioned for the LG F180 is such that it can be LTE-equipped without having to switch to dual-core, something that would delight many users in the US.
The LG F180 is currently expected to release in September and we should mention that the iPhone 5 is also expected to release in the fall, so as well as denting sales of the Galaxy S3 the F180 could also impact sales of the next iPhone. If the LG phone would only launch running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean it could be the full package.
We can’t wait to find out more about the LG F180 and will of course share it with you. From what we’ve heard so far though we’d like to know your thoughts on the LG F180. Do you think this could really take the market by storm? If you’re a Galaxy 3 owner maybe you’re wishing you’d waited a little longer to see what was coming out next?
