OUYA gaming console will play current Android games

It’s all well and good getting your Android gaming fix on your smartphone or tablet, but wouldn’t it be great if there was a gaming console that had the ability to play Android games so you could make use of your big screen TV to get all your gaming action on?

Well it appears that at some point in the future there will be a new gaming console based on the Android platform, as according to the guys over at Droid-life there is a Kickstarter project running called OUYA, pronounced ooh-yah, that is console for your TV that is powered by Android.

With OUYA, developers have access to OUYA’s open design so they can create games for the console, and also uses parts familiar to the mobile space such as a Tegra 3 quad core processor, WiFi, Android Ice Cream Sandwich, 1GB RAM, 8GB flash memory, HDMI with support for 1080p HD, wireless controllers, and USB 2.0.

Apparently all games that work on Android will work on the OUYA console, games such as Shadowgun, Minecraft and Dead Trigger that will all look great on your big TV screen.

Now here’s the thing, the OUYA project was looking for funding of $950,000, but with still 28 days to run, the OUYA Android based gaming console project has managed to scoop a massive $2,553,999 and therefore will be funded as of the 9th of August.

For those that would like to know most about the OUYA game console we have the promotional video for your viewing consideration below, and of course you can hit up the Kickstarter page for more.
