Android 4.1 Jelly Bean port for HTC HD2

If you’ve been reading all of the news about the latest Android operating system, 4.1 Jelly Bean, then you’re probably one of the very many who are currently waiting to find out if their device will officially receive this software update. Today we have news for you that developers have managed to port Jelly Bean to the almost three-year-old HTC HD2.

We’ve already brought you details on some Jelly Bean custom ROMs and the news that some ingenious developers have managed to port 4.1 Jelly Bean to the HTC HD2, which usually runs on Windows Mobile 6.5 will no doubt impress many of you. Windows Mobile 6.5 is even earlier than the Windows Phone operating system and the HTC HD2 only has a 1GHz processor and yet the phone still runs Jelly Bean, although as you would expect it’s not fault-free.

There are issues concerning video playback, the camera and Google Now while some apps don’t work and the browser display could look better but even so this is pretty clever stuff that we can all step back and admire. News of this Jelly Bean port came to us from Electric Pig, sourced from XDA Developers and although this doesn’t mean Jelly Bean will officially be pushed out to all Android devices, it does at least show that all things are possible. However before you get your hopes up, the previous 4.0 ICS update has only reached 10% of devices and that’s been out for 9 months so don’t hold your breath.
