We always like to keep readers informed about the many smartphone and tablet accessories out there and often report on cases, headphones, docks and the like. However today’s ‘accessory’ is one of the most alternative we’ve seen and believe it or not it charges an iPhone with sticks. It’s called the BioLite Camp Stove and we have plenty more information on it for you.
This has to be one of the most ingenious accessories out there and as well as the iPhone it can charge other devices with a USB port. If you’re an outdoors kind of guy or gal, keen on camping activities and the like then this could be the accessory of your dreams. It enables charging to take place by gathering sticks, pinecones and other woody materials (or biomass as in the official product description). Obviously these materials are burned and the heat then charges the device using green energy, or alternatively users can charge lights using it.
In the box you’ll get the BioLite CampStove, firelighter, stuff sack, a USB cord for internal charging and instructions. The manufactures have not provided charging cables for devices to save on waste. You can check out the video below to see how this beauty works and is only 2 lbs 1 oz / 935 grams so it’s not the most lightweight of accessories but the advantage of this phone accessory is that you can also cook with it. It can boil one liter of water in 4.5 minutes and is 8.25 inches high and is 5-inches wide.
We learned of the BioLite Camp Stove through iPhoneRumors and you can find out more or order one through the Biolite Stove site here. It’s priced at $129.00 and the product page says that orders placed now will ship in mid-July, which we’re at already. This really is one of the most inventive accessories we’ve seen and it’s also environmentally friendly. We’d like to know what you think about the BioLite Camp Stove?
