We’ve been trying to keep readers informed about Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich updates that are still in the process of being rolled out to many devices. Today we have good news if you’re an LG Spectrum owner on Verizon as it seems the ICS update is now very close for your device.
Many people have become frustrated at the speed at which manufacturers and carriers have been pushing out the Android 4.0 ICS update and that has been exacerbated now that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has arrived. While some are now looking forward to their Jelly Bean flavor there are plenty of people who are still without ICS.
There doesn’t seem to have been much consistency about ICS updates either with some older devices receiving ICS before newer devices and LG Spectrum owners will be pleased that it looks like they will receive the upgraded operating system before Droid Bionic owners. This news comes from Droid-Life who report on an LG employee (Brian) on LG support forums who says that the Spectrum ICS rollout is “very close to release,” and is simply waiting for word from Verizon before it’s all systems go.
This claim was made almost a week ago but it seems that the employee concerned also reiterated the news more recently and said that LG is simply waiting for an FOTA date from Verizon. He also advised Spectrum owners to check the LG Company Updates page from time to time and then yesterday posted again to say that people might want to check from tomorrow. It’s certainly worth checking at the link today then, although the employee does say “fingers (and toes) crossed.”
