For those fans of LG Android devices, especially the LG Optimus Black and LG Optimus 2X, past word stating that both smartphones would not see an update to Android 4.0 ICS would have come as somewhat on a disappointment naturally, although later on it was revealed that the LG Optimus 2X will gain the ICS update, but what about the LG Optimus Black? Well it appears to be looking promising that the Optimus Black will also gain the ICS update.
Basically the ICS update schedule for LG Optimus devices seems to be in a bit of a mess, and LG isn’t really having anything to say about which devices will gain Android Ice Cream Sandwich and which wont. However according to Tech Covet, it does look like the LG Optimus Black will be an Android Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone.
It appears that a mobile retail store has some LG Optimus Black boxes that sport a sticker stating the smartphone is Android 4.0 ICS upgradable, so one can only presume by this that LG has decided that the Optimus Black will indeed see the Android Ice Cream sandwich update at some point.
Unfortunately though it is unclear just where that mobile retail store is located, but the stickers on the packaging are in English so one can basically rule out South Korea and other non-English speaking countries. Of course there is also a possibility that these particular packages were produced months ago before LG decided not to upgrade the Optimus Black.
But if these LG Optimus Black packages are being used this could possibly be a sign that the smartphone will gain Ice Cream Sandwich sooner or later, otherwise those that get those packages will be somewhat irate I should think.
