Currently the darling device in the Android space is of course the very popular Samsung Galaxy S3, an Android smartphone that has taken the Android space by storm, however, it appears that LG has a new smartphone on the horizon that is said to sport hardware that could possibly rival the Samsung Galaxy S3.
According to a report over on Mobile Syrup, by way of Asia Today, the LG smartphone that will go up against the Samsung Galaxy S3 is the LG Optimus G handset, a smartphone that is rumoured to sport a 4.7-inch TrueHD IPS touch screen along with a 13 megapixel camera, along with 2GB RAM and a Tegra 3+ Snapdragon S4 quad core SOC.
Other specs with the LG Optimus G are rumoured that the device will be an Android Ice Cream Sandwich handset, with an improved Optimus user interface, and VoLTE functionality.
It is said that the LG Optimus G has apparently been inspired by LG’s ‘L’ range of devices that includes the LG Optimus L7, and the new flagship handset is said to become available in LG’s domestic market sometime next month, and will be available abroad that month as well, but obviously at this stage in the game there’s no word on any pricing.
Word has it LG is likely to show off the LG Optimus G during IFA 2012 in Berlin, Germany, which kicks off in a few days time, and if the above specs turn out to be spot on, the LG Optimus G, which is expected to hit the US market, could be the first quad core LTE handset to become available in North America.
What do our readers think, could the LG Optimus G topple the Samsung Galaxy S3 from popularity with the Android faithful?
