It seems that ever since Samsung launched the hugely popular Galaxy Note many other smartphone manufacturers are looking to join the phablet party, and now for our readers over in India we have news of the upcoming iBall Andi 5c 5-inch phone that comes running the Android ICS operating system.
The team over at BGR.com are reporting that iBall has announced another Android smartphone for its Andi range, which sports an impressive 5-inch IPS display. This will be powered by a 1GHz Cortex A9 processor, and also has dual GSM SIM connectivity that has always been popular in the Indian market.
Other features of the handset include a five megapixel autofocus camera on the back, front facing shooter for video calls, built in GPS, 3G with HSUPA 5.76Mbps, HSDPA 7.2Mbps, and 4GB of on board storage that is expandable up to 32GB via the microSD card port. All this is powered by an impressive 2,300 mAh battery unit, and there is even a G-sensor, light sensor, and a proximity sensor.
The Andi 5c is set to be priced at Rs 12,999 and will go up against the Micromax Canvas A100 that also features a similar five inch display, five megapixel camera, dual SIM connectivity, and a 1GHz processor, but is priced lower at Rs 9,990 making it significantly cheaper.
There is even the recently released Mercury MagiQ from Kobian that has similar features and is priced at Rs 12,700, so it seems there will be a fierce fought battle coming up in the phablet market in the region now. There was a time that smartphones featuring screens of 4.3-inches in size were deemed large, but this has long been passed by devices weighing in at 5-inches.
