The Apple iPad continues to dominate the tablet PC market but there are many consumers who either don’t want, or can afford the Apple product. Luckily in recent times more affordable devices have been released, and we now have news of the Amazon Kindle Fire being sold out ahead of a new model release.
According to an article over at SlashGear the original Amazon Kindle Fire has been announced as sold out, and this comes just one week before the retailing giant is set to host an event where it is widely believed they will release a new version of the device.
The Amazon Kindle Fire was originally released back in September of last year, and has gone on to become the best selling product on the website. Given the age of the original Kindle Fire you would have thought it was the right time to offer consumers a new model considering the increased competition it now has from the likes of the Google Nexus tablet among others.
The current model features a seven inch IPS TFT display with 1025 x 600 pixel resolution that uses the Android platform, which has a special Amazon overlay. Other features include only 8GB of built in storage along with Wi-Fi connectivity.
It is thought the next version of the Kindle Fire will feature a more powerful processor coupled with an improved display, and a more aesthetically pleasing form factor to the chassis. Until the special Amazon event kicks off next week on the 6th of September we won’t know for sure what the company is planning with the new model.
The competition could be about to become even stiffer in the coming months if rumours about a new smaller iPad become true, and it’s us the consumers who benefit with a wider choice of devices available.
