The smartphone market in the last few years has provided some desirable looking handsets that have consumers sometimes queuing around the block to get their hands on the device in question. Sometimes though we see some devices that standout from the crowd and that can be said about the Motorola Ferrari i867 Android phone that woos class.
The handset certainly looks the part but as Technologia 123 is reporting the i867 Ferrari model only uses the Android 2.1 operating system. Motorola and Nextel have teamed up to launch the new smartphone that also features Push To Talk, and will be available in emerging markets for around $700.
The Motorola i867 has a bold design that has been inspired by the famous Italian sports car maker, and while it may feature a different layout and some interesting specifications, it still has the old Android Eclair operating system. It is believed that only 8.5% of Android users are still on this version of the software, and has since been updated several times with the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system being released.
Motorola’s decision to use this version of Android is a strange one, but the company is looking to the union with Ferrari to tempt customers in many markets. A marketing manager of Nextel stated “the Motorola i867 Ferrari is the ideal choice for motorsports enthusiasts and passionate about quality, design and exclusive Ferrari connect”.
Owners of the handset will also be treated to a keychain, car charger, and leather protective coating featuring the famous Italian brand. The handset itself features a 3.1-inch touchscreen, three megapixel camera, Swype keyboard, MP3 player, and Bluetooth. It will come with a 2GB memory card while the on board memory can be expanded up to 32GB.
