iPhone 5 camera system to compete with Samsung

As that big Apple day draws even closer, the day when everyone should lean all about the new iPhone Apple has to offer the masses, although much has been speculated on the iPhone 5 such as a bigger display, thinner design, smaller dock connector, and such, when it comes to the iPhone 5 camera, not much has been rumoured.

With today’s smartphones the camera is an important part of the device, and according to an article over on 9to5 Mac, word is the iPhone 5 FaceTime camera is now in the centre, and looks to be moving towards FaceTime HD, and there is also speculation that the rear camera will be upgraded.

The guys say that although the iPhone 4S delivered an 8 megapixel camera along with a redesigned 5 lens camera system and new sensor, the smartphone camera game has moved up with rival devices from Samsung, Motorola, Nokia and Sony, and if the next iOS smartphone wishes to compete against the likes of Samsung and other rivals Apple should be planning an improved camera system for the iPhone 5.

The article says the two new high end Sony Xperia devices both sport a 13 megapixel HD camera and could be an indicator as to where Apple is headed with their cameras, but will Apple continue to use Sony as a vendor? And apparently few have complained about the iPhone 4S camera, and generally the camera is considered the gold standard.

The rumour is that the iPhone 5 also comes with a thinner body which could possibly leave less room for the camera lens and thus force Apple to redesign the camera system, and whilst the iPhone 4S camera was one of the biggest upgrades at the time, it now feels dated when compared with other smartphone camera available today.

As such the article suggest that they expect to see improvement made to the iPhone 5 cameras once Apple dishes the details on the device on the 12th of this month.

Whether that is the case remains to be seen, but really Apple does need to upgrade the camera on the iPhone 5 to compete with the likes of Samsung. Would you love to see Apple deliver an improved camera system with the iPhone 5, or are you simply not too bothered about the camera?
