If you are the owner of an HTC Thunderbolt smartphone, and still a tad annoyed that HTC didn’t deliver the upgrade to Android 4.0 back at the end of August as promised, as long as you don’t mind tinkering with your handset there is a bit of good news for you, because the word is you can now grab a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich for your Thunderbolt via the LiquidSmooth ROM.
According to an article over on Droid-life, LiquidSmooth version 1.5 MR2 is now available, and if you are looking for an AOSP based ROM for your HTC Thunderbolt then the LiquidSmooth could be just the Android Ice Cream Sandwich ROM you are looking for.
The developers of LiquidSmooth have managed to keep everything smooth and clean with the ROM whilst still delivering customisations such as 5 lockscreen customisations with customisable icons or white ICS icons, navigation bar colours, customisable round battery icons with percents, and uniform Ice Cream Sandwich theme throughout.
The developers say MR2 is a milestone release for them, bringing unmatched customisation and user control, rock strength stability and speed, and great battery life.
Recent changed to LiquidSmooth MR2 include MMS now works, 1x3G/4G works correctly and shows, menu setting have been tweaked, RIL/System files have been heavily modified, kernel and ROM optimised and compiled with Linaro, now is REL, and fixes Google Music and the like. However there are still a couple of bugs such as Netfix still doesn’t work, and the video camera is still broke.
Furthermore, with the LiquidSmooth ICS ROM MR2 the user doesn’t need to flash Gapps as they are included with the updated ROM.
So if you do own an HTC Thunderbolt and would like to give the LiquidSmooth ICS v1.5 MR2 ROM a whirl, the ROM weighs 93.6MB and can be downloaded by hitting up XDA-Developers, and if you do, feel free to let us know how it all goes.
