If you are over in the good old US of A and in the market for a new tablet this holiday season, and would like a new Windows 8 slate, then you might like to know that AT&T has now announced that the carrier is to offer their customers the Samsung Ativ and Asus Vivo Tab RT tablets in time for the festive season.
The Samsung Ativ Smart PC was originally announced back during IFA 2012 in Berlin, and offers an 11.6-inch HD PLS touch screen along with 64GB of internal memory, an Intel Clover Trail 1.5GHz dual core processor, an 8 megapixel rear facing camera, and 2 megapixel front facing snapper, and runs the Windows 8 operating system.
The Samsung Ativ Smart PC will also come with a trail version of Microsoft Office 2013, and according to Ubergizmo will also come with a detachable keyboard-docking system.
As for the Asus Vivo Tab RT, the slate is being touted as the first Windows RT 4G LTE quad core tablet, and offers a 10.1-inch Super IPS touch screen along with Asus TruVivid tech, an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad core TE processor, 32GB internal memory, Microsoft Office Home, the Student 2013 RT Preview Edition, and 4G LTE connectivity.
The senior vice president, AT&T Emerging Devices, Chris Penrose has said, both Windows 8 tablets give the customer PC capabilities along with instant live tile updates and an optimised touch interface, whilst customers can connect their Windows 8 4G LTE tablet with AT&T’s new Mobile Share plans for as little as 10-bucks a month.
Unfortunately other than that in time fore the holiday season time frame, AT&T hasn’t given any hard and fast release date for the Windows 8 tablets, and naturally there’s no word on what the slates will command price wise yet.
