It appears that Android faithful customers of US Cellular could be offered a new smartphone at some point in the not too distant future, a handset known as the Samsung Galaxy Axiom. Although the Galaxy Axiom seems to be a new device headed for the carrier, the handset basically appears to be a variant of the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini.
Word of the Samsung Galaxy Axiom (SCH-R830) heading for US Cellular was leaked by the Twitter account of @evleaks with an image of the device along with a few specifications, which doesn’t offer anything really earth shattering.
Those specs for the Samsung Galaxy Axiom include a 4-inch WVGA LCD touch screen along with a 5 megapixel rear facing snapper, a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, 1GB of RAM along with 4GB internal storage, LTE connectivity, packs a Qualcomm MSM8960 1.2GHz dual core processor, and word is the device runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich.
Other than that there wasn’t anything else revealed about the Samsung Galaxy Axiom. However this isn’t the first time we have heard of the Galaxy Axiom moniker, as that was way back in March this year, when Samsung filed handset trademarks, which included the Galaxy Axiom along with the Galaxy Heir and Galaxy Awaken.
Unfortunately though there is no mention of just when the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini variant is likely to hit US Cellular, and there’s no word on pricing for the Android handset either. But no doubt an official announcement about the smartphone will surface in the not too distant future.
