Motorola Droid Bionic Lapdock price that will shock

There are certain smartphones that are released that offer consumers something different whether it be some new software or a special accessory to make it standout from the crowd. Just over a year ago Motorola treated Verizon customers to the DROID Bionic that had the option of a laptop dock that is now at a price which will shock many.

When Motorola first released the DROID Bionic it was a good smartphone for the time, and although smartphone tech has moved on since then the device is certainly no slouch. The handset came with a 4.3-inch display offering a resolution of 540 x 960 and 256ppi, and powered by a dual core processor cocked at 1GHz.

It was the option of adding the laptop dock that really made the handset standout from rival smartphones at the time though, but was quite an expensive smartphone accessory though costing somewhere around $300.

The laptop dock allowed users to make use of the unique WebTop experience that was basically a full Mozilla Firefox browser alongside normal smartphone functionality. Once installed into the accessory users are treated to an 11.5-inch display with a full sized QWERTY keyboard, and the device also features two USB ports on the back.

In use the device offers users additional battery life thanks to the on board battery that is supposed to provide an extra eight hours of battery life, and it will even charge the handset once docked. Like using a normal laptop the dock has a touchpad with two buttons for navigation, but this can’t be used for multi touch gestures.

While the accessory can’t offer users the same experience as using a regular laptop some may like the way you can quickly slot the smartphone into it and get started. The accessory got a mixed reception when it was first released and was mainly down to the actual cost of the device, but like any tech product it doesn’t take long for its price to start falling.

If you are still a proud owner of the Motorola DROID Bionic and couldn’t afford the laptop dock when it first became available, we have some good news for you. The accessory is available for only $49.99 over at Bens Outlet which is a nice saving and even cheaper than the likes of online retailer Amazon that has the device listed at $78.38.

Do you already own the laptop dock for the Motorola DROID Bionic?

I bought this for $100 before webtop v3 and was extremely disappointed. Much to my excitement, with the ICS upgrade came the webtop upgrade and I’ve been using the lapdock almost daily, with the chrome browser. If you own the bionic, buy this at $50. Well Worth the money.
