While headlines about Samsung smartphones are mainly taken up by the likes of the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2, the company still has a number of more affordable handsets available that still offer some worthy specifications. Luckily for consumers there are devices to suit most pockets, and today we have news about the availability of the Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere 2 on Verizon Wireless.
We first told you about the Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere 2 becoming available earlier this month, and now the carrier has the handset available on its website for the low $129.99 price with a new two year contract. The handset features a slide out physical QWERTY keyboard that many people still prefer over a touch keyboard, which is great when handset manufacturers and carriers provide consumers with a worthy alternative.
The handset may not be the most feature rich handset available from Samsung or Verizon, but you still get a lot of phone for your money. It features a 4-inch WVGA resolution Super AMOLED display that is powered by a dual core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, which is coupled with 1GB of RAM.
Other features include 8GB of on board storage that can be expanded further via microSD card up to 32GB, five megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash that is capable of 1080p video capture, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, 4G LTE, and the device will come running the Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system but should get updated to Jelly Bean in due course.
All this is packed into a form factor measuring only 126mm x 66mm x 13 mm and weighing 154 grams. The handset comes preloaded with a number of apps that includes S Voice that allows users to control certain actions with their voice, unlock the handset with a smile using Face Unlock, and S Beam allows users to share data by simply touching the back of the device with the rear of another compatible handset.
While not the best handset available from the carrier the Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere 2 offers a lot for a relatively low price, and if it’s a physical QWERTY keyboard you want the handset fits the bill nicely.
