If you happen to reside in Japan, and have been awaiting the release of the HTC J Buttery smartphone on KDDI, you just might like to know that your wait for the Android smartphone is almost over, as KDDI will put the Japanese variant of the HTC Droid DNA up for sale as of this coming Sunday the 9th of December.
The news of the HTC J Butterfly becoming available in Japan on KDDI comes our way courtesy of a report by Techinasia, although it appears there is currently no word on just what price tag the HTC J Butterfly smartphone will cost on KDDI, but the handset will be available in black, red, and white versions.
Of course as the HTC J Butterfly is the Japanese version of the HTC Droid DNA the handset will feature the same specs as the US handset, such as that 5-inch Super LCD 3 touch screen with 440 ppi, 1.5Ghz quad core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, microSDHC expansion up to 32GB, NFC including mobile wallet functions, features One-Seg video, and runs Android Jelly Bean 4.1.
The HTC J Butterfly will of course be compatible with KDDI’s 4G LTE network, whilst being IPX 5 waterproof, measures 143 x 71 x 9.2mm, weighs in at roughly 140 grams, and sports a 2020mAH battery said to be good for up to 270 hours talk time and up to 360 hours standby time.
In recent quarters the Taiwanese manufacturer’s revenues have been sliding somewhat, and thus HTC has a lot riding on the success of the HTC J Butterfly along with their Windows Phone 8 smartphones, and hopes to see those revenue fortunes do a turnaround.
KDDI has also put out a promo video for the HTC J Butterfly, which we have embedded for your viewing consideration below, so feel free to hit that play button and check out the footage.
