The closer we get to a Samsung Unpacked event on March 15 the more leaks we are hearing about the Samsung Galaxy S4 (S IV) that we expect to see unveiled there. Rumors peg this to be released as early as April and leaked specs have already given us some idea of what to expect, although of course nothing is confirmed yet. Today we have news of some last-minute decisions that Samsung has apparently made about the Galaxy S4.
Just in the last few days we’ve heard about the possibility of floating touch technology for the Galaxy S4 and given details on some purported photos taken with the phone. Other rumored specs for the next Samsung flagship include a 2GHz Exynos 5 Octa processor, 4.99-inch full HD display, 2GB of RAM, 3100 mAh battery and wireless charging and the operating system seems likely to be Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean, although many are hoping for 5.0 Key Lime Pie. However, recent benchmarks appeared to show a Qualcomm processor, which has caused a certain amount of interest.
Readers with good memories may remember one of our posts from a while ago where it had been suggested that the Galaxy S4 would come with the Samsung S Pen stylus that usually features with the Galaxy Note phones. The latest news from a Korean publication is that Samsung has decided in the eleventh-hour that the Galaxy S4 will NOT now have the S Pen stylus as the company ultimately decided to keep the stylus purely for the Galaxy Note line.
Other news from the same source regards the home button and there had been talk that Samsung would get rid of this for the Galaxy S4. However it seems that Samsung has made the decision to keep the home button for the S4 in the final draft, although of course it could be ditched for further phones in the Galaxy S line. The report also mentions mass production taking place in March with a release no later than April and possibly even in late March.
Of course we cannot verify this news but it won’t be too much longer now until the March event when hopefully all will be revealed. You can be sure we’ll be covering all of the developments from that event and will give you all the details then. In the meantime we’d like to hear your views on this latest news.
Were you hoping the Galaxy S4 would appear with a stylus? Have you strong feelings either way on whether Samsung should keep the home button for the Galaxy S4? This is something that usually divides our readers and we’d be interested to find out so do let us have your comments.
