The long and drawn out patent disputes between bitter rivals Apple and Samsung has been going on for ages now, and in a new twist we can report that Apple has gained a court victory against Samsung as the feud has no end in sight.
Apple recently won another victory against Samsung and this time in a UK court regarding a patent claim over 3G connectivity, with Samsung claiming that Apple had infringed its patents in a number of products.
The Judge, Christopher Floyd, decided that Apple didn’t infringe on 3G patents that related to the way hardware sends and receives data via a wireless network, and Samsung were looking to capture 2.5 percent royalty payments from its rivals 3G enabled devices, which some had called ridiculous.
Samsung spoke of their disappointment in the court’s decision and were thinking whether or not to launch an appeal, but Apple has so far declined to make a comment about the ruling. The two companies have been battling it out in a number of courts around the world for the last couple of years, which started with Apple accusing Samsung of copying the look and feel of the iPhone and iPad.
Many have wondered if it was just Apple getting scared of the competition that Samsung now offers to the company, and the issue looks set to run for a long while yet.
Do you feel that Samsung has a case to answer?
