Samsung has been on a roll in the last few weeks’ updating older hardware to newer versions of the Android operating system, and the various versions of the Samsung Galaxy S2 have recently been updated to the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS. Today we can tell you that it is the turn of the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket to be treated to the update.
Recently both the Sprint and T-Mobile versions of the handset begun receiving the new software, and soon after the company has now begun pushing out the software to the AT&T version of the handset.
The update brings the handset up from the aging Ice Cream Sandwich version of the operating system, which is arguably the biggest update the device has seen since it was first released. This latest update is available via the Samsung KIES desktop application and owners are advised to back up their data while making sure they have at least 75% of battery charge left.
Samsung has provided instructions for the update on its website for owners that are a bit unsure how to achieve the download and install the new software. Some of the new features coming to the smartphone include Google Now, improved performance, TouchWiz Nature UX, improved notification bar, and much more.
This new OS will bring a whole new feel to the ageing device and this just leaves the likes of US Cellular and Verizon Wireless to push the software out to owners of the Samsung Galaxy S2.
