iPhone 5 cases: Lifeproof vs Otterbox
Although we enjoy bringing news about all of the latest smartphone and tablet devices, we also like to keep readers informed about the many useful accessories available. Today we want to give you some details about two iPhone 5 cases, and let you decide which you’d prefer from the waterproof LifeProof vs Otterbox cases that we’ll give you the gen on.
First we’ll tell you about the LifeProof frÄ“ case for iPhone 5, which offers all-round protection as it’s waterproof, dirtproof, snowproof and shockproof. All this gives robust protection yet the case is light and slim adding only 1.5mm to each edge. The style of the iPhone 5 is still evident, with a rear-window that shows the iPhone design, and the case offers restriction-free access to functions, buttons, ports and controls. The case also features a CrystalClear double AR-coated optical-glass lens, and a Sound Enhancement System to maximize sound output and quality.
The LifeProof frÄ“ for iPhone 5 is durable, and yet stylish. It’s made from high-quality advanced materials and the case comes with a cleaning cloth, headphone adaptor and headphone jack cover keeper. This is compatible for all models of the iPhone 5 for all carriers. You can order this iPhone 5 case (image below) from LifeProof here, and the price is $79.99 with numerous color options.
Next we have the Otterbox iPhone 5 Armor Series waterproof case, and this offers watertight latches, O-ring seals, port covers and mesh coverings. The vents are made from a non-permeable membrane, and the advanced materials used give protection from drops up to 10 feet. It can also withstand two tons of crushing force and has a built-in screen protector.
The Otterbox iPhone 5 Armor Series case for iPhone 5 features over-molded bumpers to protect corners and edges, and metal latches that lock the two halves of the case and form the waterproof seal. It also has precise openings that enable full functionality of the camera and flash without removing the case, and custom fit interior silicone for cushioning. This case (image below) is available from Otterbox here priced at $99.95.

Bought the life proof for my iPhone 5. Returning it. Loved that it is slim and lightweight but the covering over the silent/ring switch on the side does not work well. They put a small piece of plastic in that slot for the switch to fit in which does not work. Barely touching that area would knock the switch to silent. I would have to push the rubber covering really hard to get it to go on ring mode again. So, my phone would be on silent without my knowing. Constantly having to check and fool with it. Not worth it.
i have had the lifeproof case on my iphone 5 for 30 minutes and the screen has cracked already. It fell off the bumper of my car which is 1.5 feet off the ground. It claims that it has been tested for 6.6 feet shock impacts but its complete crap. I will be returning the phone imediately
