Sony is looking to have a larger slice of the smartphone market this year and got proceedings underway with the release of the water resistant Xperia Z, but the company is not resting on its laurels and we now have news of the Sony Xperia C specs and an official announcement.
The company is widely expected to reveal to the world the Xperia Z Ultra tomorrow at its Mobile Asia Expo taking place in Shanghai, China, and there are now claims that the company will also be unveiling the Sony Xperia C that has the codename of CN3.
The handset looks to be more of a mid range device and will allegedly feature a 5-inch qHD touchscreen display with a resolution of 540 x 960, which will be powered by a quad core processor that has a clock speed of 1.2GHz and is thought to be a MediaTek unit.
This is claimed to be paired with 1GB of RAM along with 4GB of expandable storage thanks to microSD card support running the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. Other specifications of the Sony Xperia C are claimed to include an 8-megapixel rear facing Exmor R camera, and all this is squeezed into a form factor measuring only 8.8mm thick.
The handset is expected to be released in China and other selected markets to start with, and we should have more information on pricing and availability from tomorrow.
