We said that the Samsung Galaxy S2 will not be getting Android 4.2.2, and we were right. However, the next bit of news will come as a shell shock for those that own the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Yesterday we reported that SGS3 owners could now get Android 4.1.2, so to hear that Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus users are getting the Android 2.2.2 Jelly Bean update was a shock to the system. Samsung started to rollout the update in Germany, which means this is the first Samsung device to get 4.2.2.
This is surely going to anger Galaxy S3 and Note 2 owners across the board, it is a little strange considering the S2 Plus was rumored to have been stopped on the list of devices getting the 4.2.2 upgrade.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus 4.2.2 update comes with the build number I9105PXXUBMG8 and can be installed via Kies, users will get features including lockscreen widgets, enhancements to TouchWiz, dedicated toggles section in the status bar and Daydream screensaver mode, performance boost and much more.
We believe Samsung are using less important smartphones to test out 4.2.2 before they rollout to other devices, unless they are just rolling out Android 4.3 for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2. It would make more sense for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 to receive Android 4.3 rather than 4.2.2, what would you prefer?
Have you received the new Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update on your Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus smartphone yet?
