Nexus 10 2 release tipped with Asus favouritism

Last month Google refreshed its first Nexus device of the year by unveiling the new Nexus 7, and while the rest of the world outside of the US waits for its arrival thoughts are turning to the rest of the line up. Now there are reports that the Nexus 10 2 release could see some Asus favouritism over Samsung.

Shortly after the launch of the new Nexus 7 news emerged that the second generation Nexus 10 was currently under development following comments from Google’s Sundar Pichai. This at the time was thought to be another tablet coming from Samsung but now to contradict this there is talk that Asus will be responsible for the device.

According to Geek.com multiple sources claim the device will be manufactured by Asus following the success of the original Nexus 7 and the good working relationship that the two companies enjoy. There has been talk previously that Google were becoming concerned about Samsung’s dominance in the Android smartphone market, and while this was strongly denied by Google they may not want to see the same happening in the tablet market.

Of course this is only rumours for the time being but we have already heard some speculation regarding the specs of the upcoming device, which is highly unlikely to feature a microSD card slot though.

The original Nexus 10 despite its wonderful display and worthy specifications wasn’t nowhere near as popular as the Nexus 7, but that may not have anything to do with who made the device and instead be down to pricing and the actual size of the tablet.

It is rumoured that the new Nexus 10 will be available in time for the busy holiday season around a year after the original model was released.

Do you think it matters who produces the new Nexus 10?
