As a consumer it is always nice to have a lot of choice when looking to purchase a new item and that is certainly the case for those looking to pick up a shiny new smartphone, and we now have news of the Micromax Canvas Lite A92 and its price in India.

The handset is the latest device to join the Micromax Canvas range of smartphones and is available via online retailer Flipkart from Rs. 8,099, which is for the black model while the white version is slightly higher at Rs. 8,499.

This is another 5-inch handset that has a resolution of 480 x 800 that is powered by a 1GHz dual core processor along with 512MB of RAM. This is running the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system with only 4GB of on board storage, but this can be expanded further up to 32GB via microSD card.

The handset measures 10.8mm thick and is powered by a 2,000 mAh battery pack that is promised to provide up to 6 hours of talk time, or 240 hours of 2G standby. Micromax has fitted the handset with a 5-megapixel rear facing camera that is capable of 640 x 800 video capture, while around the front is a 0.3-megapixel shooter.

Connectivity includes 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0 while there is also an FM radio, micro USB port, and a light sensor. Later this month the handset will come under increased competition in the form of the Lava Iris Pro that is due to be unveiled on the 25th.
