The Samsung Unpacked event is currently taking place where we’re seeing the official debuts of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear smart watch. The event is still in progress, but as we know so many readers are waiting for news we want to give you some Samsung Galaxy Note 3 first details and the release date.
Interest in the Galaxy Note 3 has been huge for many months, and today we’re finally hearing confirmed news of this Android smartphone. Earlier today we discussed expectations for the Galaxy Note 3 and over the next hour or so it will be interesting to see how much comes to fruition.
Firstly the design looks very much as we imagined but this time the reverse of the phone has a textured faux-leather reverse. This at least should give it a slightly more premium feel than previous Galaxy devices.
Confirmed specs include a 1.9GHz Exynos Octa processor or 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor (dependent on region), a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display increasing in size from the 5.5-inches of the Note 2, 3GB of RAM (this should go down well with potential buyers), and 32 or 64GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD.
It supports LTE Category 4 and launches with Knox, Samsung’s own security solution. The Galaxy Gear smartwatch is also being announced as we write, and it seems this is very much being marketed as a companion to the Galaxy Note 3.
Software features on Samsung Galaxy devices are always hotly anticipated and there are plenty of features offered with the Note 3. These include Air Command for the S-Pen, which enables navigation through apps and actions, as well as Pen Window and Action Memo. Another S-Pen feature is Scrapbook that allows users to simply draw a circle around content to copy and save it.
Other features include S Finder, an updated S Note that makes it more intuitive, and a feature similar to Flipboard dubbed My Magazine. The Multi-Window app now has enhanced multitasking capability and there is also further functionality for the S Pen stylus.
A group Multi-Vision offering is also a rather unusual feature, as it shows an image to be displayed in totality across side-by-side devices. To be honest though, we’re not sure how useful this would be.
The Galaxy Note 3 weighs in at 168g and will be available in Jet Black, Classic White, or the previously rumored Blush Pink color options. It will launch in various worldwide regions on September 25th, with more regions to follow.
The price of the Galaxy Note 3 hasn’t yet been announced, but please check back with us as we’ve no doubt that we’ll hear that soon. We’ll also be taking much closer looks at the Galaxy Note 3 over the coming hours and days.
