Owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 are in for possibly some good news today as despite issues for a couple of other devices the Android 4.3 Jelly bean update for the handset has been released in a staggered rollout.
After being seen at some Samsung service centres before being leaked the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update has now begun its journey for Galaxy Note 2. The handset has been sitting on the Android 4.1.2 firmware for a while now and has skipped 4.2.2 in favour of the later version of software.
Owners of the handset will be hoping they won’t be affected by the problems that have been affecting other flagship Samsung handsets, and some may hold off to see if any bad feedback emerges about the new operating system.
It is claimed to be a very stable build but that was also said before other versions were released, and the update brings a completely new UI borrowed from the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3. It also sees support added for the Galaxy Gear wearable device that doesn’t look to have sold many units so far, but this may change as more handsets get support for it.
Some of the new features coming to the Galaxy Note 2 include Samsung KNOX, improved RAM management, TRIM support, new Samsung keyboard, new lockscreen, Daydream, Driving mode, new Samsung apps, new S-Voice, and the ability to move apps to the SD card among other things.
Obviously this update will be rolled out in phases so don’t worry if it hasn’t reached you straight away but you can check for it via Settings> About phone> Software updates.
Will you hold off from updating due to the problems other handsets have been experiencing?
