The Android 4.4 KitKat update is slowly rolling out to various devices and many Android smartphone and tablet owners cannot wait to try it out. If you have the LG G2 on Verizon then there’s some interesting news for you, as the LG G2 Android 4.4 update is available now via a custom ROM.
Recently we told of murmurings that Android 4.4 could be arriving for the LG G2 pretty soon, but the original source of this rumor than appeared to backtrack on this idea. Therefore Verizon LG G2 owners might be tempted to use the Gummy ROM that has just arrived.
The Gummy ROM is built from AOSP and although it’s essentially a clean build of Android KitKat there are a few tweaks and extra features. The ROM offers plenty of features, such as status bar mods, a theme manager, hardware key mod, performance controls, application permission controls, lock screen mod and more.
We don’t recommend trying out custom ROMs if you’re not confident in the rooting and custom ROM aspects of owning an Android device. We always caution that if you use a custom ROM you do so at your own risk.
However, we know that many readers enjoy this, so if you want to grab your taste of Android 4.4 KitKat and try out the Gummy ROM you can find the download links for the ROM zip file and GAPPs zip file at Droid-Hive here. You’ll also be able to check out a full feature list and instructions.
Remember to make a backup before you begin of course and that this ROM is for the Verizon variant of the LG G2. Do you have the Verizon LG G2? Are you tempted to try out this Gummy ROM?
