#

Now this is a new smartphone announced for India that is likely to create some waves. The Intex Aqua Octa has launched in India today and is ready for sale. The phone was introduced in November and has a phablet form factor. We have details of Intex Aqua Octa availability, price, specs and a free offer coming right up, but although this device has very decent specs it does not have a Full HD display.

This is a dual SIM phone (WCDMA + GSM) with dual standby and it’s powered by the world’s first true octa-core processor, meaning all 8 cores can be active simultaneously. The Intex Aqua Octa price is Rs. 19,999 and it’s already on sale from online retailer Snapdeal with a 7-day dispatch time listed.

The Intex Aqua Octa will also be more widely available from over 40,000 outlets including other e-commerce portals, hypermarkets and Intex Squares retail stores from January 15th. This phone has a 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor, Mali 450-MP4 graphics, and a 6-inch HD IPS display with resolution of 1280 x 720.

Other specs include 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (expandable to 32GB), a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and 1080p video capture, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Aqua Octa runs the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, and connectivity options include 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11.

There’s also a 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio, dual Yamaha 1420 speakers and a 2300 mAh battery. Dimensions of the Intex Aqua Octa are 161.06mm x 80.86mm x 7mm and it weighs 180g. Extras include the Matrabhasha multilingual app, Intex Play, Intex Cloud (+5GB of storage), Intex Game Club, Opera Mini, BigFlix and more.

Colour options are black or white, both available from Snapdeal at the links provided. Customers placing orders for the Intex Aqua Octa with Snapdeal before January 8th will also receive a free Intex Power Bank 3000 mAh as well as Intex Craggy headphone worth Rs. 3,990.

From the Aqua Octa specs this looks to be an excellent new arrival from Intex, although many potential customers may feel disappointed at the lack of a Full HD display. We’d like to receive comments from readers in India about this phone.

Are you a prospective customer for the Intex Aqua Octa? If so, what are your thoughts on the sub-Rs. 20,000 pricing? Would you rather have paid more to get a Full HD display on this smartphone?
