While we have to wait until next month for the launch of this year’s flagship HTC smartphone, the company still has some new hardware to showcase at the MWC 2014 event as the HTC Desire 816 and 610 handsets are unveiled although pricing information is MIA.
For a while now we have been hearing rumours about a handset going under the name of HTC Desire 8, and now the handset has been officially launched but is called the HTC Desire 816. The device has a 5.5-inch touchscreen display at a resolution of 720 x 1280 with a 267ppi pixel density.
This is powered by the quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor running at a clock speed of 1.6GHz, which is paired with 1.5GB of RAM. There is 8GB of internal storage that is expandable further via microSD card.
The company hasn’t revealed what version of Android the device is running but it will come running HTC Sense 5.5 when it is launched, and the device also features a 13-megapixel rear camera that is capable of 1080p video capture while around the front is a 5-megapixel shooter.
Other features include a 2,600 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and GPS with the handset set to arrive next month in China with global availability the following month. The HTC Desire 610 meanwhile has a 4.7-inch touchscreen display at a resolution of 540 x 960 while also powered by the same processor as the Desire 816 but running at 1.2GHz with 1GB of RAM.
Again we have 8GB of built in storage that is expandable via microSD card, and on the back we have an 8-megapixel camera paired with a 1.3-megapixel shooter around the front. There is also a 2,040 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, 4G LTE, and NFC with the handset set to be released in Europe by May but no pricing has been revealed for either handset.
Will you consider one of these upcoming HTC handsets?
