The Windows Phone platform is gaining pace as more users decide to go with the operating system as more features and higher spec handsets become available. A lot of thoughts recently have been focusing on the Windows Phone 8.1 update, and today ahead of its release with have a video that shows the Cortana voice assistant in action.
Back in September of last year we heard that Microsoft were going to launch its own voice assistant for its mobile operating system to rival Apple’s Siri service, and as the release of Windows Phone 8.1 gets closer more information is appearing about the update.
We recently have seen some information on the Action Center coming to the software, but now below this page is a short video demonstrating the Cortana Voice assistant. The user asks it to provide directions to the nearest train station, and is asked if they plan to catch the next train.
When answering yes they are provided with a route to the nearest train station along with times of when the next departure is. It then asks when they want to leave and when replying maybe later the assistant states that it will remind them at a later time.
The assistant has a female voice as you would expect but unfortunately not much else is shown, but it gives users of the platform something to look forward to in the coming months.
Are you looking forward to the Cortana voice assistant?
