It can be a slow process to roll out Android operating system updates to various devices, and the 4.4 KitKat update is another example of this. We recently reported on a software schedule from a French operator with a schedule for the update for various Xperia devices, and the Sony Xperia Z Ultra was one of those listed along with the Xperia Z1 and Z1 Compact.
According to the carrier the anticipated timeframe for the update to arrive for the Z Ultra is in April, though of course it may appear at different times for various regions and carriers. However, it does at least look as though everything is on track for a release before too much longer as a screenshot has come to light that claims to show the Xperia Z Ultra (C6833) running Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
The build number shown is 14.3.A.0.681, but this could alter by the time the official final release is pushed out. Although there’s no way of telling whether the image is genuinely what it claims to be, the build number beginning with 14.3.A would tally nicely, as the current 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware has build number 14.2.A.1.136.
If the screenshot is indeed the real deal, then this is a very promising indicator that the official update might start rolling out soon. Are you waiting for this Xperia Z Ultra Android 4.4 update?
