We’ve been covering the new Gionee Elife S5.5 smartphone and think this will be a popular handset with many buyers. We’ve already given readers a comparison of the phone against the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 and a video comparing its size to that of the iPhone 5S.

The phone and its specs were announced last month and given a release date for China of March 18. However, although we knew the phone was coming to over 40 more countries, including India, there was no precise news on when it would launch for other regions. Readers in India have some good news today though, as Gionee has announced an event on March 30th and 31st for the launch of this super-slim smartphone there.
