Xiaomi budget Red Rice successor appears
A Xiaomi Hongmi smartphone dubbed the Red Rice gained a lot of attention when it released last year. This was an octa-core handset and yet the price for China was the equivalent of only $130. It gained huge popularity among buyers and now a Xiaomi budget Red Rice successor has appeared on the scene.
A Xiaomi device identified as part of the Redmi budget line has received certification from TENAA in China, and so this next-generation affordable handset could see a release soon. Specs are said to include a 5.5-inch display with resolution of 1280 x 720, 1GB of RAM, microSD expansion to 32GB, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper (although documentation suggests the front-facing shooter could be 8-megapixels).
Two different models of the phone have been touted, one as having a 1.4GHz octa-core processor and the other sporting a 1.7GHz CPU. The upcoming Xiaomi iphone will support TD-SCDMA connectivity compatible with China Mobile and also WCDMA for other Chinese carriers. However, it doesn’t appear so far as though an LTE model will be available.
The word is that the new Xiaomi phone could be revealed at the MiFan Festival in early April. Will you be waiting to hear more?
