If you were wondering if there would be a Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom, a camera-centric version of the Galaxy S5, then you can be pretty much assured that there will be. The successor to the Galaxy S4 Zoom has been spotted on a benchmark database, and specs have been given away ahead of an official announcement by Samsung.
Samsung model SM-C115 showed up on the GFXBench website, and this device steps up from the 16-megapixel rear camera of the standard Galaxy S5 (and last year’s S4 Zoom) to a 20-megapixel rear camera with 5184 x 3888 sensor resolution. It also has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera with 1080p video capture.
Further specs of the SM-C115 include a 1.3GHz Samsung Exynos 5 Hexa processor, ARM Mali T-624 graphics, and 2GB of RAM, and two different storage models will be available. It has a 4.8-inch 720p display, and runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat as we would expect.
It will be interesting to see if Samsung manages to make this year’s Zoom model a little less hefty than the S4 Zoom, and we look forward to seeing this device unveiled. Do you think a Galaxy S5 Zoom is a device you might purchase?
UPDATE: It has come to our attention that the details show a 19-megapixel camera rather than 20-megapixels.
