Samsung Galaxy S5 early release confusion
When the Galaxy S5 was officially unveiled recently it was announced that the phone would release on April 11th in 150 countries across the world. However, a recent report has led to some Samsung Galaxy S5 release confusion, seeming to imply that it may release a little earlier in some countries.
It is stated that the Galaxy S5 will ‘launch’ in Malaysia on March 27th, and at first we imagined this just meant the phone would be officially announced for the country on that date, or that pre-orders would open on that date. For example we recently heard that buyers in the UK would be able to pre-order the phone from March 28th.
One thing we see a lot in the tech world is confusion over the words ‘launch’ and ‘release’, with some sites using launch to mean release rather than announced. Therefore this could just be confusion over terminology rather than an actual early release for Malaysia. However, it’s suggested that the three major Malaysian carriers will be offering the phone from the moment it’s officially launched, which puts a different complexion on it.
A teaser image has also been posted for the Galaxy S5 with the words saying, “Be the First — March 27.” The original source also says that the flagship smartphone March 27th launch will mean it’s “ahead of its earlier 11th April international availability,” so that Malaysia will be among the first to get the phone.
We have to say we’re not totally convinced yet, but if this does turn out to be accurate, an earlier release may not just apply to Malaysia. We’ll be following this with interest and will inform readers when we know more. Are you already intending to purchase the Galaxy S5 as soon as it releases?
