UK consumers have seen a major upheaval with the high streets changing all the time with a whole host of companies disappearing. There is a chance that some more changes could be on the way as the Carphone Warehouse and Dixons merger seemingly closes in.

Back towards the end of February we first heard news that both the Dixons Retail group and mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse were in discussions about a possible merger. Previously the two companies had until today to come to some kind of agreement, but now the deadline has been extended.

Now the Takeover Panel has set a new deadline of May 19th and any merger would create a store portfolio of almost 3,000 stores across Europe, but the companies have stated that more time is needed to discuss a merger.
