UK buyers looking for a very reasonably priced 4G LTE smartphone will soon have an extra option in the shape of the EE Kestrel. This is a low-cost Android handset made for EE by Huawei and it’s set to release in April.
The Kestrel will be offered on Pay as You Go for just £99.99 on the first 4G operator in the UK. Alternatively it will be available on contract with nothing to pay down and plans starting from £13.99 monthly. The new lowest-cost 4G plan for EE will offer users 500 minutes, 500MB of 4G data per month and unlimited texts.
Specs of the EE Kestrel include a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, a 4.5-inch display with resolution of 960 x 540, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera, 1-megapixel front-facing camera, 2000 mAh battery and runs the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. Does this sound like a smartphone that you might buy?
