There has long been lower cost Android smartphones but the offerings to consumers have been improving over recent times, and today we have the Sony Xperia E1 vs. Motorola Moto G in a budget Android battle.
The Motorola Moto G became available late last year and has proven to be really successful sales wise for the company, and a new more rugged version is now rumoured. Meanwhile the Sony Xperia E1 has only recently joined the fray to offer consumers even further options when picking up a new budget smartphone.
Display
Sony has fitted the Xperia E1 with a 4-inch TFT capacitive display at a resolution of 480 x 800 with a 233ppi pixel density, while the Moto G has a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display at a 720p resolution providing 326ppi.
Processor
The Moto G has the quad core Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.2GHz while the Sony has the dual core Snapdragon 200 chip at 1.2GHz.
RAM & Storage
The Sony has 512MB of RAM with 4GB of internal storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD card, which compares to the Moto G that has 1GB of RAM with either 8GB or 16GB of un-expandable storage.
Operating System
Running on the Moto G is the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update while the Sony currently has Android 4.3 Jelly Bean but has been promised KitKat.
Cameras
The Sony Xperia E1 has a 3.1-megapixel rear camera with no front facer, while the Moto G has a 5-megapixel shooter on the rear with a 1.3-megapixel unit around the front.
Battery & Measurements
The Moto G is powered by a 2070 mAh battery in a form factor measuring 129.9mm x 65.9mm x 11.6 mm weighing 143 grams, while the Sony has a 1750 mAh battery while measuring 118mm x 62.4mm x 12 mm at 120 grams.
