The wraps were finally taken off Windows Phone 8.1 at the Microsoft BUILD event today. We’ve seen a plethora of leaks about WP 8.1 over the last few weeks and months so it’s good to see it finally made official. We have some initial news and a couple of feature videos to share, to give you a first idea of what the update offers.
Nokia has also introduced some of the first devices that will launch running WP 8.1 today. The Nokia Lumia 630 and 635 plus the Lumia 930 have all been made official and you can read more on those at the links. Just some of the new features of Windows Phone 8.1 include Action Center (notification center), the Cortana voice assistant, an updated Windows Store, Calendar improvements and more.
As well as the new devices that will launch running Windows Phone 8.1, many other existing WP devices will receive the update over the next few months. Below this story we have also embedded two videos for your viewing pleasure that show some of the above features.
