Sony Xperia Z2 release arrives for some
There’s plenty of anticipation for the Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone and many buyers had been hoping to get their hands on the device by now. However, we then heard that Sony was struggling to keep up with the demand for the phone and that the release in some regions would be pushed back until May, Today we’ve heard that the Sony Xperia Z2 release has now arrived for some.
Sony previously confirmed that the UK and Europe release would be delayed until May, although the company hoped to fulfil some pre-orders earlier. A May release also looks likely now for other regions such as the US and Canada. Now there’s word about the launch of the phone for those in Singapore.
A release date there was scheduled for April 5, although some buyers have already managed to get it a little early. There are reports that some buyers who pre-ordered are already picking up the Xperia Z2. Singtel is allowing orders to go out today, and as part of its pre-orders deal on the phone is also throwing in a free SmartWatch 2.
Starhub and M1 are to include a free SmartBand with the phone, and the device will be available from these carriers tomorrow. Those who want to buy the phone contract-free in Singapore will be able to do so next month via Sony at a price of S$998. The image we’ve shown here comes from HardwareZone.com.sg and shows the Xperia Z2 in its Singapore packaging.
While this doesn’t necessarily mean that the phone will now be available earlier in other regions, we can always hope. Nevertheless, it shows that Sony is pushing out availability as planned, at least for some. Are you eagerly waiting to get hold of the Sony Xperia Z2?
