Nexus 5 shines in display comparison showdown

We know from comments from readers that there are a huge amount of Google Nexus 5 smartphone fans out there. As the Samsung Galaxy S5 has just released many people are testing out various aspects of it, and the display is one of those features. Today we’re looking at the Nexus 5 and how it shines in a display comparison showdown against other top smartphones.

The display comparison compared not only the Nexus 5 and Samsung Galaxy S5, but also the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, LG G2, HTC One M8, and Apple iPhone 5S. A variety of lab tests and scientific measurements were used by Phone Arena to compare the different screen offerings, with ratings given for various factors.

For Brightness and Visibility the Nexus 5 was in equal second spot with a score of 8.5 alongside the HTC One M8, both pipped by the iPhone 5S with 9.5. The LG G2 scored 8, the Galaxy S5 scored 8 and the Galaxy Note 3 managed 7.5.

Moving on to Resolution the Nexus 5 and HTC One M8 both achieved top spot with perfect scores of 10. The Galaxy S5 and LG G2 both scored 9.5 while the Galaxy Note 3 and iPhone 5S both managed 9.

For Color Reproduction again the Nexus 5 impressed, coming joint first with the iPhone 5S on 9. The HTC One M8 scored 8, the LG G2 7.5, and the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Note 3 both managed 6.5.

The Viewing Angles category was the only area where the Nexus 5 didn’t shine, as this time it achieved a score of 7, the same as the HTC One M8. The joint top spot was taken by the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 with 9 points, while the iPhone 5S scored 8 and the LG G2 was left trailing behind with 6 points.

You can see much more detail on all of the above at the source below. Overall it’s easy to see that the Nexus 5 really managed to hold its own against some of the most high-spec smartphones available, even though the LG-made Google offering is much more affordable.
