While many people are finally getting to grips with the Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone, others are still wondering if there will be a Galaxy S5 Zoom. This happened last year with the Galaxy S4 and S4 Zoom, and we’ve already seen some pointers of a Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom. Now the evidence is mounting, following a spot at the FCC.
Previously we’ve seen some benchmarks of a Samsung device with model number SM-C115, said to be the S5 Zoom. We’ve also reported on an indication from an accessory maker who had listed a case for the Galaxy S5 Zoom, as well as a claimed specs leak.
Although the device has still not been officially announced by Samsung, a device with the same model number SM-C115 has now been approved by the FCC. The diagram of the handset ties in with the previously leaked image (shown below) but the filing only mentions LTE bands 2 and 5, neither of which is commonly used in the US. It does confirm NFC and LTE connectivity though.
Bear in mind that as the S5 Zoom will be a camera-centric version of the standard Galaxy S5, it will have an improved camera set-up, likely to be a 20.2-megapixel rear camera with Xenon Flash, optical image stabilization and 10x optical zoom. However, other specs are unlikely to be of the same level of the Galaxy S5. Are you hoping to see the Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom officially unveiled soon?
