For a big number of owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 the handset is still running an operating system that is riddled with bugs with no hope of getting a taste of KitKat on the horizon, but the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 update is listed as coming soon for some users of the device that also includes some hope for other owners.
It has long been argued that the international version of the Galaxy S3 won’t be receiving the Android KitKat update due to the fact the handset only has 1GB of RAM, but this has been called into question given the fact that some other Samsung handsets listed as getting the new OS also have the same amount of RAM.
Now Canadian carrier Rogers has updated its OS upgrade schedule and the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Mini version of the handset are listed to be coming soon. Now this isn’t a surprise for the Rogers S3 as this has 2GB of RAM, but the S3 mini has only 1GB of RAM.
Surely this will eventually be changed to cancelled considering Samsung did mention the S3 Mini would also be missing out on KitKat, unless Samsung has changed its mind and is working on a way to get KitKat on the S3. In the meantime you may be interested in the custom ROM we reported on previously that has been ported over from the Galaxy Note 2.
Do you think Rogers will change its status or has Samsung changed its mind?
