The HTC One M8 flagship Android smartphone is making plenty of waves at the moment and shortly after it was made official back in March, we started to hear talk of a Windows Phone version of the device. Now a new HTC W8 Windows Phone handset is touted for a Q3 release.
Very dependable leaker @evleaks previously said that a new Windows Phone device would be called the HTC W8 and headed to Verizon. What wasn’t made clear was whether this would an exclusive device for Verizon, although we wouldn’t think this was likely.
Now Evleaks has struck again and has added to this information to say that the HTC W8 will in fact be based on an Android device dubbed the A9. It’s said to be running Windows Phone 8.1 and coming to Verizon in Q3. The prolific leaker also says that BoomSound stereo speakers as well as the duo camera set-up will be making their way to the W8 Windows Phone.
We should stress that none of the above is confirmed at the moment so it’s a case of wait and see, but we’ll certainly be looking out for more news on the HTC W8. Would you be interested in this smartphone?
