Micromax Unite 2 vs Xolo Q600s India showdown

There is a huge range of smartphones available for India, from low-end devices to the top-end flagship handsets. Not everybody wants or needs one of the flashiest phones though, and would rather stick with an affordable handset that meets their requirements. Today we’re looking at two recent releases that fit the bill, in a Micromax Unite 2 vs. Xolo Q600s India showdown.

Both of these are dual SIM phones that have been recently launched, and they are both budget Android devices. We’ll give you the key specs and other details of each so that you can compare what they have to offer and see which one best suits your needs.

The Micromax Unite 2 (A106) has a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582 quad-core processor with Mali-400MP2 graphics. The Xolo Q600s has a 1.2GHz Broadcom BCM23550 quad-core processor and Broadcom VideoCore IV GPU.

The Unite 2 has a 4.7-inch IPS LCD display with resolution of 800 x 480 and 199 ppi. The Q600s has a 4.5-inch IPS LCD screen with resolution of 960 x 540 and 245 ppi.

RAM and Storage
The Unite 2 has 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD to 32GB. The Q600s also has 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, but this time it’s expandable to 64GB.

Camera set-up

Connectivity
Both phones support 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPRS, EDGE and microUSB 2.0.

Operating System
Here the similarities continue as the Micromax and Xolo phone both run Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Dimensions
Measurements of the A106 Unite 2 are not specified but the Xolo Q600s measures 136.5mm x 68mm x 7.9mm.

Price
The Micromax Unite 2 was priced at launch at Rs. 6,999 while the Xolo Q600s was officially priced at Rs. 8,499. However, prices vary depending on retailer and they can be found cheaper, for example at one retailer there is only Rs. 550 between them.

Looking at the above specs it’s clear that these two smartphones have plenty of similarities, although there are also some differences. For example the Unite 2 has a faster processor and a larger display. On the other hand the Q600s has a higher-resolution display and a higher level of expandable storage.

Ultimately we have to say there’s really not much between these two phones in the way of specs, so much of your choice may come down to your preference of design. Do you think you might be buying the Micromax A106 Unite 2 or maybe the Xolo Q600s appeals to you more?
