The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact smartphone released early this year and has already arrived for various world regions. It was previously thought that the phone wouldn’t reach US availability though, and this caused some disappointment. However, there’s some good news now as the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact unlocked has arrived for sale in the US.
This will be a pleasant surprise for some buyers, although the phone is only available unlocked and not subsidized on a contract. The price is $549.99 and this is for the international model D5503 that supports 1,2,3,4,5,7,8, and 20 LTE bands. It’s available in black, pink or white color options.
Xperia Z1 compact specs include a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, Adreno 330 GPU, a 4.3-inch IPS LCD display with resolution of 1280 x 720 and 342 ppi, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD to 64GB. It has a 20.7-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video capture, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, LTE, and a 2300 mAh battery.
The phone runs the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, though we recently reported that Android 4.4.4 KitKat update has begun rolling out for the Xperia Z1 Compact in some regions, so will spread further before too much longer. It’s also dust and water resistant and its dimensions are 127mm x 64.9mm x 9.5mm while it weighs 137g.
