It’s always nice to hear of incoming operating system updates and a little over a week ago we informed readers that the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update was on the way for the HTC One M8. There’s good news today for some owners of the phone, as the HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 update has arrived for Europe.
Some had been expecting the Android 4.4.4 update to roll out for the One M8 instead, but HTC previously explained that Android 4.4.3 would also include the security fixes from 4.4.4. Android 4.4.3 has now started to roll out for the unlocked version of the One M8 in Europe
This firmware update is a sizeable 613MB update bringing the software to version 2.22.401.4. The significant update brings a plethora of changes and improvements to the HTC One M8. Apart from the Android 4.4.4 security upgrades it also brings tweaks to HTC Sense, optimizations for Boomsound, the Quick Setting Menu, Motion Launch and Extreme Power Saving Mode, and updates for HTC apps. The Android 4.4.3 update also offers improvements in performance for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile network.
Although we know that the Android 4.4.3 is now seeding across Europe to the unlocked HTC One M8, it’s worth noting that these updates are usually rolled out in phases, so you may need to be a little patient. Of course you can always check manually on your device to see if the update is available for your phone yet.
HTC is doing pretty well at providing timely updates for some of its devices lately. The company has already confirmed that Android L will come to the One M8 within 90 days of Google releasing the code for the fall update.
It’s always interesting to track the progress of updates being rolled out, so we’d like to hear from readers in Europe who have the unlocked HTC One M8. Let us know when you receive the Android 4.4.3 update, and your region, by dropping us a comment in the box below.
